Now that I’m thinking about it.

I think depending on the game a data table can be really useful. For example I love random loot tables or just chaos tables in general.
It’s really the only way for a game (being of structure) to imitate randomness (a being of chaos).

Well it depends on how many people you have and how big the game is.

Oh you meant like data tables.

D&D is like a board game because it needs multiple house rules to make it even slightly enjoyable.
(Looking at you monopoly)

The decline in media literacy has stunted people’s ability to tell their own stories in unique and creative settings.

Why try a new TTRPG that challenges a way of thinking or has something to say when we can rehash the same fantasy setting with some new spices so we can’t taste the mold.

Using d8 for the western 8 note scale, and cord progressions. (We could use d12 for the western 12 tone chromatic scale but that feels too granular to lead to smooth gameplay)

For example at the start of a clash, each player would roll a pool of say 12 d8. The value on the individual die would determine the outcome of the story beat but a player could then assign the spent die to a skill or ability that would have a die requirement to activate. I.e. blues groove (1,1,4,5)
