After awhile you get a better idea of the potential for cards you haven’t played (or may have played against) which then transitions into banned cards. Some of the weirder banned cards can be a bit difficult to explain so I look at what an ideal turn sequence looks like for decks that play them.

Ah gotcha, sorry for the wrong interpretation. So this may answer both points but if they talk about playing X card I always ask if it’s a staple in their deck and if so then how do they play around it. I use that as inspiration to not only learn new cards but understand different playstyles.

If we’re talking standard then I always recommend going through the Bloomburrow archetypes since they cover majority of the guilds and playstyles you might see in the wild (Ex. Otter Izzet tribal focuses on spellslinger). If we’re talking commander then buying pre-cons are always a great start

Thats what my group does for all forms of fast mana (including sol ring) if you have to mulligan down to 6. It’s really nice and sets the expectation that no one will mulligan just to get fast openers on purpose.

Have it so that users need a verified email at minimum to reduce bots, limit the @everyone pings to an announcement channel so if people prefer to mute them they can. Create fun roles for everyone depending on their interests.
