Unpopular choice? Perhaps. But this game afforded me so many opportunities within the FGC. My first SF Top 8, first EVO, CASA was built around this title during COVID... I didn't play it as much as I'd like to have in hindsight but this game is MONUMENTALLY significant in my life

Street Fighter V.

Persona 3... this game effected me y'all. A stellar turn-based JRPG with social management that screamed at you to optimize your time, with a story about mankind's (non)willingness to accept its own demise. The end of this game lives rent-free in my head. Best ending boss theme of all time.

Halo 3 led to life long friendships. I used to go and join my friends every Friday night for 2v2 LAN parties. This group ultimately are who turned me on to StarCraft and the FGC so this game is super important, on top of being a stellar shooter and conclusion to its story

Knights of the Old Republic opened the door to Bioware games for me, on top of being the best Star Wars game made. The first reveal as to your character's identity blew my mind as a kid. Funnily enough I used to wish for a version that de-emphasized lightsabers/Jedi... hello Mass Effect!

Idgaf, this game slaps. Is combat broken? Yes. Is the story kinda nonsensical? Absolutely. Are there weird tonal shifts? Definitely. Does it force you to play the best minigame ever made to be as strong as possible? You bet.

Fire Emblem for GBA

Look.... I know it's not great.
But Gundam Federation vs Zeon ate up tons of my idle PS2 time. The space combat in particular felt really good, I loved that it didn't impose a default Z-axis or anything and you could really just end up oriented however.
