My take is that these effects are interactions between competition in nature and humans seeking life-meaning. Striving for life-meaning encourages both prosociality and power endowing systems, while competition creates systems that achieve incredible feats, but with caustic incentives for others.

“Connectome” could refer to any connectivity matrix. Margulies (2016) also technically uses connectome harmonics (“gradients”) since they’re eigenvectors of the FC Laplacian. Yet the physical interpretation of WM harmonics as signal distributions is tangible in a way that FC gradients cannot be.
