It's almost back to school season!

Remember the outlandish rumours that somehow made it around the whole country despite us not having social media yet?

I think we should start some new ones.

I'll go first 👇

Pet Hates as a Recruiter:

1) People who name their CV file "my CV" instead of their name

2) CVs in chronological order instead of reverse chronological

3) CVs with no contact info

4) CVs in landscape instead of portrait

5) When people ask me if a role advertised as on-site could be 100% remote

What's it actually like being a woman in tech?

Why are we still seeing fewer women than men in entry level roles?

How do we ensure the women who do enter the industry stay long term?

Equality for women doesn't mean shitting on men.

Equality means improving men's rights as well as women's.

No phones ❌
No emails ❌
No taxi queue nightmares ❌

We went off the grid for NYE this year (which was also our first wedding anniversary!) and I honestly couldn't recommend it enough.

Great session by Simon Swan and James this morning discussing 2023/24 Tech Recruitment Trends

It was particularly interesting to see the data around the changing regional outlook of IT jobs and which skills will be in biggest demand.

What's your prediction for 2024?

Do you have a strict no-dating-coworkers rule?

Would a feature like this make you more or less likely to apply? 👀

Anyone know of any junior SWE hiring programs around Barnsley?

Everyone's talking about the need to get more women into the industry and yet look at the hoops they're forced to jump through to get their first shot

Walking back into the office on Monday morning hoping everyone forgot you rage quit on Friday

Bit of a controversial one:

Do you think the RTO push sweeping America is an attempt at a "soft layoff" — instituting unreasonable policies to make people quit (or accept severance) — in the wake of difficult market conditions & ongoing labour strikes?

Happy Monday, #SQLFamily! Are you team organised fireworks display or DIY with friends and family?

I'm looking to speak to BI contractors with financial services experience this week about a 6 month data migration project (#Synapse to #Snowflake).

Referrals always welcome!

Just saw a quote that 20% of adults have struggled with procrastination at least once in their life?

20?!!!

Happy Halloween, #TechCommunity!

Consider this your friendly reminder to stock up on sweets so you don't have to pretend to be out when trick or treaters knock tomorrow 🍬

Lots of #SoftwareEngineering & #DataAnalytics roles for you this week, all hybrid remote (3 day per week)

Would you trade privacy for the ability to work from home?

According to a new survey, 62% of us would for 3+ days a week.

What about you?

I would never go to the local news with an article about myself because I don't think I could handle the absolute rinsing the British public give the headline photo 💀
