Older, but probably not wiser. My opinions are my own unless I'm being secretly mindcontrolled by a shadowy cabal of hedgehogs.

Battletech 2nd edition back in the mid 80's. This specifically was the haul I left the Friendly Local Games Store with:

It would appear the Spectrum version had a significantly different take on the Batwing section of the game than the 16-bit machines like the Amiga and Atari ST. Your art was getting quite good at this point in my opinion. Definitely showing off that talent.

I bought one of the "Veritech" sets, but it was missing pieces. I also had the Griffin/FotsD Roundfacer, a _tiny_, little Goliath/FotsD Crab Gunner and a set with a twin-rotor transport helicopter, FotsD Bushmaster and a tiny motorcycle with sidecar. All sadly lost in a fire years ago.

Thunderbolt. I'm probably influenced by getting the Revell "Robotech Defenders" model kit of it as a kid and had so much fun putting it together, but I just love the squat, tough look of the original unseen. Project Phoenix is too tall and spindly, but the Reseen is good, squat and brutish again.

First lance I played in a short campaign was a recon lance. There had of course been one-off games, but this was the first lance I played in more than one game.

PXH-1 Phoenix Hawk
JR7-D Jenner
PNT-9R Panther
SDR-5V Spider

And yes, I did play Draconis Combine even back then.

I bring a nightmare from the 8-bit past. The Quickshot IX Joyball. It's a trackball you may think. No. A trackball can be useful. This? This is not. The ball is a hemisphere, not a sphere. It functions exactly like a joystick with longer travel between positions and awkward hand placement.

The Stalker is what happens when you have one very convincing person on the design team who always goes "But what if we could put _more_ weapons on it?" in the design meetings. 😄

And yes, I do love the good, ol' Deathblimp/Deathdildo, even the old, goofy TRO art from the 3025 era.

Personally I've been drooling over the Munich Town Guard style sword for years now. Some day... Some day it shall be mine!

Reminds me of the BZK-F3 Hollander light battlemech from Battletech. AKA the gun someone glued a pair of legs and arms onto. 😆

Here's the first cartoon I can remember watching on TV, back when Norway had only one TV channel, NRK.

And I feel old again.

What my mind still believes Phil Collins looks like vs. What Phil Collins actually looks like these days
