Posting some old art just in time to be at least 2 months too late to be summer relevant. Merry Halloween everybody~
Drawing of my original character Stephen Gear, dressed in red board shorts and an untucked Hawaiian shirt decorated with Shine Sprites from Super Mario Sunshine. He is also wearing a red tie. On his hands he has two gauntleted fists. They are sphereical, and half of the sphere is transparent like a snowglobe, filled with water where you can see Stephen’s hands holding onto a handle inside the gauntlet. The colors and design of the gauntlets are also explicitly references to F.L.U.D.D., Mario’s water spewing companion contraption, also from Super Mario Sunshine. The whole vibe of this illustration is an explicit homage to Super Mario Sunshine.

I was looking at the official renders for Donkey Kong Bananza for reasons, trying to get a better idea of how that stylish lighting effect worked, and I only just today made the connection its referencing the cyan and pink colors from the original arcade game and uh I think that’s neat c:

I joined an impromptu 4 panel themed tournament featuring Volander by @corvidteeth.bsky.social

Volander, an inscrutable 5th dimensional inkblot urchin looking being wearing a red tie stands in front of an inter-dimensional tesseract rift in front of a lakeside park. Volander is speaking into a microphone, “Hello, and welcome back to Volander’s Quantum Bakery. My name is Volander, and I am currently standing next to a metaphorical slice of inter-dimensional pie.” Katie Copper is holding a camera, concentrating on keeping Volander (who can be seen in the reflection of the camera lens) in her sight. We hear Volander offscreen, “Normally anyone within blinking distance of this multidimensional cake metaphor would be at risk of becoming entangled with said cake at a moments notice. Every atom of your squishy tri-geometric anatomy stretched across the multiversal kitchen of possibility before being superimposed into a single dollop of chocolate frosting.” A little musical note onomatopoeia chirps out from Katie’s belt. Katie has picked up from her belt a legally distinct pocket egg pet simulator that is making musical note chirps We hear Volander from offscreen continue, “The only thing keeping me tethered to this particular plane of existence is the constant observation from my camera operator, Katie Copper, who must keep her eyes trained on me at all times,” Katie looks away and says, “Ooh sweet! My egg finally hatched!” Volander continues, “Otherwise, I am at at risk of being lost to the unspeakable horror that iseeeaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH-“ We see the text of his scream enlarge and get cut off by the panel border. Below Volander’s speech bubble we see the tesseract rift. We also see in the camera lens reflection Volander getting drowned out by the tesseract effect, but I’m sure he’s fine, he’s a professional. He does this all the time. Katie now looks disappointed as she says “Ah beans, just another frog dude…” Volander offscreen says “I can feel the new death of the universe crackling within my every taste buds…” In tinier text, Volander continues, “…It tastes like strawberry yogurt…”

An original character by the Bluesky user commonly referred to as It’s Just Jake. Their name is Juno Jacobs. They have chin length dark hair, and they are wearing an oversized red sweater (or jumper for my friends over on both sides of the pond!), a red beret with a green tag poking out of the center, blue leggings with maroon socks, and a grey pair of sneakers with dark teal highlights. There are some extra doodles of their hands which have the appearance of grey computer mice, with 3 purple rectangular protrusions serving as fingers. There is another pose of Juno wearing a headset not too dissimilar in appearance to that of a 1995 Nintendo Virtual Boy. Juno’s hand is extended and a wire frame silhouetted figure is being projected out, standing in a classic fighters pose, dukes up, ready to brawl in a classic melee of the ultimate variety. Below is an extra doodle of the virtual boy headset, it has two vertical slits over where the right eye would be, and a big reddish glass-like orb projector where the left eye would be. The right eye “orb” shape is not too dissimilar to that of a lightbulb. Fun fact this character was originally designed by Potato-man for a secret Santa Swap in 2023! Just an illustration of Just Jake’s oc Juno Jacobs. They are sitting down awkwardly holding a video game controller with their weird 3 fingered mouse hand. The emotional expression being conveyed in Juno’s face is as indeterminate as their gender.

Been working on some self indulgent character design in between other work as a sort of drawing burn-out preventative measure :3
Original character by myself, Ridley Graves. Several drawings of her depict her in a variety of poses and outfits, most of which show her Ina variety either purple or black overalls, as well as boots and one orange glove. She is wearing goggles in most of the poses, as well as sporting purple hair done up in a bun. She carries aroind a giant wrench-like axe that has a green core in the front, and in one particular action pose shows a green plasma like energy being emitted from it. There are also several drawings of a crustacean shaped robot named “CrabBot,” that can fold up into a portable cd player shape and attaches to the backside of Ridley’s glove.
