I’m Dandelion Summerwind, I’m a wizard, I’m a fairy, and I have a CIS degree. Hopefully things here are better than the other hellsite.

No, not Tumblr. That one’s good enough.
Watching a video on dragonball trivia for normal people that hard swerves into imagining Tien with emo hair and bangs.

My immediate reaction: “His name is Hiei.”

One reason I know I’ve personally had a hard year is I can recognize that the Rob Reiner thing is bad, but right now it’s kind of a new middle, not a new low.

You know you’re weird when you think “people and dogs are genetically predisposed to be best friends now.”

Well okay, time to get back on. Let’s check that status:

Jobless? Check.
Homeless? Check.
Contentious divorce? No choice but a check on that one.

Yup. My life is officially shite.

… Time to buy a new webcam.

I don’t hate that short form videos on social media exist (TikTok, Reels, Shorts, Instagram, etc.) and I think they can be a very creative medium.

I hate that every idea from anyone’s head is treated as equally valid by the algorithm and there are people who accept them as equally valid.

Roko’s Basilisk is the new “penis idol against earthquakes”.

It is exactly as well understood by its proponents and exactly as effective in what they want it to do.

Trying to explain all of Kirby lore sounds like tripping on LSD.

Actually, trying to explain a single Kirby game out of context sounds like tripping on LSD. Suspension of disbelief is required, but easy by design.

Look at him. He’s a pink ball.

As an IT professional, team communication is very important. Doubly so when factoring in an above average ratio of neurodivergent to neurotypical colleagues. After some time asking if there is a better way to handle this issue, I now ask “in what context are you interpreting the last thing I said?”

So real world fact: I’ve worked adjacent to NASA before and have an interest. I’ve looked at space travel both public and private. But watching a Neil DeGrasse Tyson video today, I had a thought:

“Is it easier to launch rockets from the moon?”

The real Y2K bug:

God: With this new millennium, mankind shall reach a new golden age of peace and happiness!

(happiness value has stack overflow going from 11111111 to 00000000)

God: shitshitshitshitshitshitshitshitshit

I grew up in a town where being 99% correct was the same as being 1% more dead than people were comfortable with.

Gardening today.

I realize that staring at the primal forces of nature like they’re a petulant child throwing a tantrum and expecting them to calm down and cooperate may seem insane by most standards, but I deal with clients everyday. The weather is much easier to reason with.

You know things are weird when you pick up real actual people followers on your personal account. 👀

I’m out running errands parked and looking over my shopping list, and I saw a Tesla with no driver. Is it weird that I feared for my safety a bit?

So I've liked Sonic games for a while and- PLEASE DON'T RUN!

... So I've liked Sonic games for a while, but I don't get why Sonic Team Racing is a thing. This is a series about characters that are able to run fast enough to launch into orbit and they're... driving cars. It doesn't make sense to me.

The most frequent metric that I use when determining how to allocate my time is "If I leave this alone now, will it explode while I'm doing something else?"

What level of adulting have you reached?

I'm at the recurring midboss.

“Why can’t there be something like a bar for nerds and geeks to meet and make friends in person?”

“OMG I can’t wait for the next convention!”

I’d roll my eyes, but faeries don’t do well living in glass houses…

Something else I learned the hard way in 2024:
If it's too hard to move at someone else's pace, don't. You're not helping them at that pace if you can't do it and it'll be less awful for both of you if you do things how it's best for you.

Something I had to learn the hard way last year:
When goalposts are shifting wildly, that usually means something is medically wrong with you and you should communicate what you're seeing, how your mind is not working, and lay down until you stop hallucinating.

Going on to another person who's been very patient with their IT service, @moonflorencevt2.bsky.social has been very helpful with the office dress code and I would hope to make that favor up to them this year as well.

You can also find their work at their hub page: portfolioofmoon.carrd.co

If we're doing this in order of "you messed up, you silly fairy", let's start with EliseDaphne, who is responsible for giving my office a much better layout and a pretty great parking space.

For now, you can find more of their work on the other site. x.com/daphneelis34...

Alright, so things have been absolutely horrific coming out of 2024 and I apologize unreservedly to everyone in my backlog. I think I have found the issue and will try to post more regularly going forward, starting with two heartfelt thanks that are VERY overdue.
