These things affect people and their communities so much longer and harder than I ever realized before. My heart is with all of the people who are feeling it today whether their tragedies were recent or not. Too many bad things are happening and life is hard and I don’t know how else to put it.

And it’s really changed how I consume true crime material. I don’t think true crime is inherently exploitative, but there’s certainly bad apples in the barrels of podcasts/documentaries/books so I’m much more selective in this genre

When I went to the Eras tour in Seattle, people would ask where I was from, and then immediately go into “oh my gosh I don’t think he’s going to go to jail because of a thing I saw on Tik Tok!” No “oh do you know them?” or “I’m sorry for your community” or anything close to sane
