I've never really understood the "no kneading" appeal. Kneading bread is one of the most satisfying things a person can do.....

Excellent article. Years ago I remember my father talking about the McCarthy era (he was in his mid 20' - early 30's) and how "American" it was. Irish-Americans were still trying to prove that they were fully American (which meant white, Christian, anti-communist, willing to ignore much history)
