Reposting some personal works I made during the last years.
I wish I could be more ambitious with my own work but I often end up doing very safe illustrations. I really like them but I wish I had the energy to try some new subjects

Endpaper I made for "A Song of Legends Lost"

The sketches !
Chasmfiend are big, have a lot of legs and are quite low to the ground so finding the right pose was challenging. Figuring out how it could move and how to have it emote was an interesting task. I used the front legs to show weight and stability and make the composition flow.

"Chasmfiend on the Hunt"
Illustration made for the Cosmere Rpg.
I was reading the Stormlight archives a second time when I got the opportunity to make this so I was fully hype ! Bringing to life such a cool creature was a treat

I was also making this little guy, but it is still in the unfinished folder

I just realised I didn't uploaded this as an animation but as a still. So there is the little rig test I did a few month ago. I was planning on doing a full animation but I got distracted and ended up making a game (I'll try to show this soon !)

The card ! It's a cool and weird design, I love it. It feels very mtg

Some of the preparatory work I did for the illustration. The idea of adding Sothera (the black hole) came later from Vic and it really helped the piece

Bygone Colossus

While I do not often draw sci-fi art I'm a big fan of the genre. So had a blast painting this illustration for mtg, the black hole was especially fun

The original sketch and some WIP.

Some more experimentations I did in blender.
I really enjoy drawing something and giving it life in 3D
I'll try to make a more ambitious animation with this little fellow but it will probably take some time

My cat died a few month ago and while I was expecting it, it was a stark reminder of the passage of time. I suddenly felt a lot older.

Animation was probably the hardest part. This was only my second animation and I was overambitious. 2097 frames is a lot for a beginner like me and some of the movements looks very stiff.
Despite this I feel like I still managed to share the story I wanted to tell, which is the most important part.

I used davinci resolve for the color grading and adding sounds. My only deception was not being able to make the music myself.
I used @garethcoker.bsky.social amazing music "Silent Woodlands" and it added so much emotions to the ending.

The background are all painted then projected on simple geometry and some planes. There is no lighting involved with any of them which sadly means that I couldn't get cast shadows.
I really appreciated how much control it gave me, though the result looks a bit strange sometime when the camera moves.

I painted all the characters in photoshop and then made the model to fit the illustration. I then projected the texture on it and added more detail from other point of view. Combining this workflow with some custom shader allowed me to make 3D model very close to my illustrations.

I made everything for this short (exept the music) and it was a journey.
The storyboarding was my favorite part. Having access to movement and camera work felt magical after years of static illustration. Now I realise I should probably try to make some comic panels one day.
