Today we honor Juneteenth, which marks the day in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation — more than two years after issued. As educators, we recognize the importance of teaching accurate history and continuing the work for equity and justice.

The House passed SB 373 today, 77–20. Nine Democrats joined all Republican members in supporting the bill. It allows mastery-based pilot schools to opt out of collective bargaining — making teacher voice optional.

The House passed SB 373 today, 77–20. Nine Democrats joined all Republican members in supporting the bill. It allows mastery-based pilot schools to opt out of collective bargaining — making teacher voice optional.
With a close vote, the Senate has voted 27-22 to concur on SB 1. The bill now goes to the governor for his signature.
