I'm very excited that my elderflower is going to bloom this year. The flowers will attract pollinators and subsequent berries will be food for birds. Last year it focused on growing frondy yellow-green leaves, having arrived with us in a sorry state of stickhood.

The Elderberry awakes...

It is still too cold. Apparently there were two coyotes here yesterday.

Cat has decided that the Christmas tree is home and will not move out. Her eyes are wide with the wonder of 1000 things on strings, and her particular favourite - anything woolen - is right at the top in the form of a crocheted angel. Like it's there to reward her for destroying all beneath it.

Trying to capture my cat in monorail mode. So far not completely successful but it's one of her preferred positions so I will try again.

This time last year this was a small patch of grass. Baffled as to why anyone would want a small lawn in a tiny backyard we have planted it and it brings so much joy. All the bees are delightful, one hummingbird, a few dragonflies. Hopefully next year some berries on the elderberry and roses.

Accidentally got up close and personal with this long legged beauty as I was assessing the aphids situation. Can anyone identify it? Additional picture of sweetpea flower that smells divine.

Some beauty for the weekend

I made a little moss garden in a moss-covered concrete planter that couldn't be moved. It makes me very happy!
