Air travel used to be an event. You dressed nice. It was fun! Now the focus is how much $ can airline billionaires milk from passengers, how many corners can be cut, who cares about a bad passenger experience.

All that aside, we used to have Midwest Airlines, where all of the seats were big comfortable first class leather seats and you got a fresh baked cookie on an afternoon flight. My first flight ever was Midwest.

Southwest Airlines is ending both open seat selection and two free checked bags. Now there’s no reason not to fly Delta I suppose. Southwest hasn’t been priced competitively in years.
