International Service Learning (ISL) has been supporting the growth of healthcare focused students for over 30 years and has continued to adapt its programs in order to accommodate the needs of faculty and students. ISL presently has opportunities to serve in 8 countries.

International Service Learning (ISL) does not require faculty/students to know the Spanish language when traveling to any of our 7 countries in Latin America as they provide a basic medical Spanish class during orientation … but if you want to start learning now, practice, practice, practice!

International Service Learning (ISL) consistently includes a variety of cultural activities in all trips. While in Belize, Team St. John Fisher College was introduced to “Altun Ha” … the ruins of an ancient Maya city in Belize which was occupied for many centuries, from about 900 B.C. to A.D. 1000.

International Service Learning (ISL) - Team St. John Fisher continues to be quite busy in Belize in the community of Arenal where they did house visits to determine if there was a need for healthcare, then set up rural clinics, followed by a farewell to the community.

International Service Learning (ISL) - Team St. John Fisher College took a break from their healthcare efforts to enjoy a Thanksgiving Dinner with a “Belizean” twist! Even though Belize does not celebrate Thanksgiving, the people of Belize are thankful for services being provided by the students!
