We celebrated Car Free Day by opening Liverpool Road for play 🌺☀️🏸🥀🏃🏼♀️🌳⚽️☕️🛴
The neighbourhood turned out to enjoy games, bubbles and chat in the sunshine ☀️
Generations got together to plant tree pits from 6 to 66 year olds to leave a lasting legacy #carfreeday2025

As one teacher complained to another. Why remove car parking spaces next to the school? People now have to park 3m further away on the other side of the road so that children can enter school safely, reduce the number of families driving to school. 4/6

The bench is always busy with visitors, parents and children waiting, meeting or using the free little library. We simply don’t know why these people think they have the right to dominate the street? Just imagine what would happen if people were given this space on all streets. 3/6

The spring planting has grown and matured over summer and the tall grasses are left glowing amber in the autumnal sun. We are concerned that this will attract wildlife to the area and increase #biodiversity. 2/6

It’s apparent that since it was installed two years ago, more and more parents have invested in cargo bikes to do the school run. The e-bikes parked here allows parents to walk to school with the kids and cycle into work from school 🧵🪡 1/6

We’d like to complain to @islington-council.bsky.social about the success of the Thornhill Living School Street. It attracts more bikes than cars could previously park here. Plus the bench is in constant use. And the planting scheme has grown over summer without any watering.

Parents using the new cycle parking in our parklet to leave cargo bikes whilst dropping of kids. Before our parklet there was nowhere to leave a bike let alone a cargo bike.

It’s hot out there and some drivers are idling their engines to keep their air con. So we’ve been putting up posters around schools to remind drivers to switch off and help protect young lungs walking to and from school.
