Make it 11 after a great lineup last night with friends. The Bladnoch is no longer produced, so thankful for a backup. The Bowmore will be replaced at some point, but a few more kills are in order first.

It’s been a spell, but a couple more kills brings the total to 9 for the year already! Unfortunately, despite my “rule” I’ve bought about that many for the shelves. Never fear, viewers, more murders yo come! #whisky #AmericanSingleMalt #OnlyMurdersOnTheShelf

Another sad loss, tempered by a great addition. If you haven't had the Cedar Ridge Quintessential, jump on it. It's a great example of what American Single Malt can be. This will be replaced ASAP. The up side? This Little Book Ch. 6, made up of 4 malts from 4 casks, and a fortunate find.

Onto the 6th kill of 2025, but this time not a #singlemalt. The Penelope Architect is great, one that fooled a friend into thinking it was a single malt during a blind tasting. Filled with nuttiness, spice from the French Oak, it's a great entry to bourbon if you're more a malt head #bourbon

Yet another bottle kill, this time the Arran Sherry Cask, "The Bodega". My god is this an amazing whisky, cask strength, full sherry maturation - if you're not familiar with this bottle, get one. It's one of the best yum:cost ratio sherry cask whiskies out there #whisky #singlemalt

The hits keep coming! This is another shelf staple for me, with a backup on the shelf already. It’s such a great dram for a great price, rich with plum, nuttiness and a zest of pepper from both the American Oak and PX casks, it’s amazingly balanced on my palate. #whisky #singlemalt #Campbeltown

First bottle kill of the new year is one of my absolute favorite bottles and distilleries. Chocolate covered cherries, plum, currants and hint of allspice.

The only downside is that while I have a backup bottle, it’s one that was signed by John Campbell, so I may never open it. #whisky #singlemalt

Impromptu "U Pick 'Em" lineup with friends tonight. Which piques your curiosity? #scotch #whisky #sharingsicaring

Wait, maybe I'm ok with that, too...

An interesting tasting last night, a lineup of port finished single malts. I wavered on the order initially, and landed on starting with the 25, grouping the two tawnys and bookending with the rubys. Glendronach took the top spot almost unanimously, with the Dalmore and GlenMo close behind. #whisky

OMG, that's my second one - Right now I've got a couple Ikea style bookshelves two to three deep in some places with bottles. What are you considering for shelving? I'm a fan of the etagere open shelves, even though the shelf heights aren't adjustable.

Happy Ratification Day! American Single Malt is an official category, so it’s time to celebrate. With these choices, what would you pick to be your first toast to the category? Mine is the Westland, but none of them would be a bad choice. #whiskey #AmericanSingleMalt #RatificationDay

A day late seeing this post, but I completely agree! In fact, to celebrate, I created the lineup for a tasting with friends this week! Such great variety within the category, whether its within a single distillery or different regions.

First gathering of 2025 and a celebration of the ratification of standards for American Single Malt! Fun times, great friends, great whiskey. The overall favorite was St. George Spirits, then a toss-up with the rest...EXCEPT the Jack Daniels. Interesting night indeed! #whiskey #singlemalt #ASM

Happy New Year! While I don’t participate, I encourage the support for those celebrating Dry January. In some ways, you are stronger than I. Sláinte mhath! #DryJanuary #whisky #whiskey #WhiskySky

A lovely first time getting a bottle from family (they know how discerning I am!)

Not a bad drop, very floral nose, but more nuttiness, wood, plums and baking spice on the palate. A definite holiday dram!

What was under your tree?

A successful blind tasting with two different groups this week! One self-proclaimed bourbon "hater" mistook one of the bourbons for a single malt and loved it! I take a little pride in that one. Separating the malts from the Irish proved the biggest challenge, as expected. #whisky #whiskey #bourbon

I'm a sucker for stout cask finishes as much as I am for Lochlea, so when I heard about the Overtone, I was on a mission. And I would call it a success, even ordering from the US to get it - along with three of the Third Crops to round out my collection! #whisky #ShipIt #stoutcask #Lochlea #Overtone

Ok #whisky B-Sky, what do you do when it feels like you palate is miles off?

2-fer on #FreshCrackFursday as I work on a lineup. Let’s see how this falls out.

On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, pause to acknowledge the suffering historically and continually inflicted on trans individuals, including today's attack on the first transgender Congressional Rep. I'm hard pressed to believe that it's anything but intentional that it was done today.

Great evening with Joshua Hatton and Jason Johnstone-Yellin of SCN with some absolute bangers of new releases. The Auchriosk was an amazing mix of grain, light sherry notes, and vanilla that really exploded with water. The winner, though, was the Williamson was the winner. The nose was to die for!

It’s #SacrificialSunday with a bottle kill of a soft favorite, Arran’s Barrel Reserve. This is a great sipper, citrus, banana, oak and a nice, light palate and finish. It’s a summer staple, so there’ll be a replacement #Scotch #whisky
