So my default point - pro/rel is bad actually - is that even if it was realistic, I would be strongly opposed, as I think the US model is superior (and that's not even getting into why salary caps are better than spend whatever you want).

NCAAF fans would literally kill you. Also EuroLeague may be on top of different national leagues, but 12 teams are permanent members (and shareholders of the league). It's basically the model the SuperLeague was considering.

This is when I also note that Europeans kinda already understand this because Euroleague basketball is semi-closed (12 of the 18 spots are held by clubs with long term licenses)

OTOH, you know who finished dead last in the NFC in 2020? The Philadelphia Eagles. Like I said, I'd rather keep teams in different metros across the country. The continental US is the size of Europe. Imagine a pan-European league not having a team from France or Italy.

Didn’t the Browns make the playoffs a few years back? The Rockies twice in the late 2010s as well. Constant mediocrity is the fate of most midtable teams in pro/rel. I think I’d rather have a constant team in Denver or Cleveland rather than another team in NY or LA.

I mean you could have said that about the both Detroit teams (Lions and Tigers) 5 years ago.

No. Pro/rel is bad isn’t just an MLS specific statement. I’d rather US teams play the kids and maybe try something new than do hyper safe defensive games because they are scared to get relegated
