For the tweeter to bemoan his erroneous journey as ‘Broken Britain’ when it’s the only way he’d be able to do it if transferring in the U.S. is, well, interesting.

Which takes me to my final point. The U.S. is one of the few countries to lack direct airside transfer - the ability to fly from country A to country B via the U.S. and not enter the U.S.

I’m sure they have their reasons.

Not just airports. Train stations. Buildings. On the whole we are really rather good at it.

So missing the flight connections sign and the train signs smacks very hard of user error.

I wouldn’t want to do this regularly and understand why people avoid it. Connecting within an LHR terminal? Easy. Like anywhere else.

However painful the journey, where we excel is wayfinding and signage. It’s excellent. It’s been copied the world over. Colleagues from abroad comment on it.

Connecting at Heathrow is painful if you have to change terminals. I did it for the first time last week.

The highlight? A bus from my arriving aircraft across the apron to a building where I went up two levels, to go down two levels, to a bus adjacent to the one I arrived on, to T5

No, no no no. A step too far. Would be marmite if it was mine. But 9 just wanted butter.

Something special when I wake up early, make a coffee, check the scores and the game is *still* going.

Took my eldest to their first baseball game when they were 8. At 0-0 in the bottom of the 14th at Citi Field they finally ran out of patience.

Ha! It doesn’t appear to be a reflexive relationship. At least, not yet.
