Wield. Like having these national enforced holidays? As a Jewish convert student trying to reconnect with the heritage I was denied, it is HARD. Like, real hard. Society defaults Christian in ways you don't realise as even an edgy atheist. My partner was delayed CHEMO because of Xmas close-down.

I have conversations about this every year. The reality is that people may not engage it with religiously in their own mind, that does not make it SECULAR. In fact, trying to pretend it is is kind of bad for the "Christian Supremacy" because you kind of undermine the power they have been able to

To me the fact it can happen makes sense, life happens and we are always connected to it. But people rarely even seem to apologise to the cashier and ACKNOWLEDGE that it is not ideal. Because, hey, sometimes things aren't ideal, but acknowledging that should at least be a part of the courtesy.
