Why bother trying?

So yeah, I spent a few hours debugging their problem, made my own work-around for it to solve it for me and then threw another few hours into trying to get them to fix their own problem only to get nowhere because the real techs aren't reachable people.

Finding someone who can actually understand how simple this fix actually is has proven to be impossible however. It's a simple process someone on staff has to do annually manually or like the rest of us, automated every sub-90 days.

That sounds progressive but it's actually a backwards fix for a much simpler problem. They just need to get their certificate re-issued since the the signing authority they choose to use has a dodgy past and isn't supported by swaths of the Internet anymore.

I contacted a friend who works there, got a ticket created and then hours later funnelled through to a support person. They were aware of some semblance of the issue and they'd issued a patch that users could use to fix the problem.
