of the three main Dynamite ladies of the time, Sonja, Vampirella, and Dejah Thoris. Too many changes for old school fans, no Simone writing for the newer fans, the three books got cancelled almost as soon as the first issues hit the stands.

The following writer, Marguerite Bennett had a much better short run The Falcon Throne. Only six issues but I thought she had a much better handle on Sonja than Simone. The story strives to be an epic like Russell's run but it faced a lot of fallout in the way Gail and Dynamite handled the relaunch

A lot of folks like it but I never felt it was anything more than her name doing the heavy lifting as if that run had Gil Simonson, straight white guy as named writer, there wouldn't have been nearly as much praise for it.

For me, her Sonja run went too far off the beam on the character. Brian Reed in volume one got rid of the rape and vow without turning Sonja into a distaff Conan. Too many barbarian cliches of horny, drunk, surly to Simone's run for me to find it good. The stories were paint by number D&D runs.

She's a solid writer, but I don't like her humor, often plot driven narrative, and tendency to add spurious details that add nothing to a story. Sonjita instead of Sonja, making Sonja dyslexic, and more. Additions doing nothing in the story just an illusion of depth and never get used again.

A lot of folks liked it but it wasn't my cup of tea. I've never been a fan of her writing on anything, really. Russell's run was a rare true epic beyond the usual Sonja vs wizard/warrior stories. I liked Erik Trautmann's work and Amy Chu's run was pretty fun.

The movie follows the beats of Arnie's Conan the Barbarian and gives Sonja Arnie's movie Conan origin which is what Simone's run on the comic did. The opening is almost lifted from LotR with Hyrkania more like peace loving Hobbits in the Shire than Howard's warlike Asian steppe nomads.

Like the '85 Red Sonja, it's dull. A lot of the complaints online are just grifting hate reviews. The film's script is rather poor and the ending is anticlimactic but other than having a bloated run time & indifferent acting its tolerable, not good but like '85's Sonja unsatisfying.

Arresting people based on looks and vibes is racism. Period. It's a feature not a bug of American policing.

Nope, no hiding from this shit. It doesn't change until we admit these goobers are who we are. They are embarrassing fucknuckles to be sure but they are out loud and proud because we do this shit ever couple of decades. It won't end until we admit that ugly fact is admitted and expunged.

Exactly! These are Americans doing this shit. This bigot patrol was born of 50 years of prep from the war on drugs to the war on terror. We've done this before to Japanese-Americans, black Americans, and anyone else not white and rich enough for ages. We need to own it if we are ever to fix it.

According to this article, there was a San Francisco Bay area bar in Sunnyvale called Wayne Manor back in the 60s. That TV show was popular once upon a time. www.sfgate.com/sf-culture/a...

If only she'd taken the role of Sonja but she wanted to play Gedrun.

After ten+ years Millennium likely wanted to get rid of the IP before they had to pay out another year to hold onto the film rights so Bassett finished it fast and cheap. Decent background history of the production is here: www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...

It was slated for theatrical release well before Bryan Singer was hired. It's likely theatrical release was part of the film rights purchase so 1/2 days fulfilled a contract obligation. It was budgeted cheap as possible to make its money by distribution.

Shutdown hasn't stopped ICE from terrorizing, assaulting, and kidnapping people. It has kept the Epstein Files hidden so what new distraction will TACO and the Group Of Pedophiles come up with?

Millennium had the film rights for over a decade so that's a lot of money paid to the IP owner. It was a troubled production all along that Bassett pushed over the finish line so the studio could recoup its money through distribution deals. I don't expect a sequel from Millennium.

The worst point, Sonja doesn't kill the villains. Two hours and she just runs around at the end killing nameless extras while other characters solve the film's established problems. The prince returns with an army to defeat Dragan, the villains kill each other. Sonja is irrelevant to the ending.
