I was just wondering if there was an update on this.

My wife plugged a space heater into a plug we don't normally use and it basically fell out. I replaced the plug the next day.

My house is over 20 years old. I wonder if there is any opinion on preventive replacement of plugs just because of age.

A per port controllable pdu (really fancy power bar) can work here. Once the NUT server has powered down everything, it also turns off the power ports until whatever logic or manual control you wish.
