Aw, thank you!

Yeah--our best chance was the GOP not being absolute cowardly dipshits on the 7th, and that, unsurprisingly, didn't happen.

Don't listen to what they say, don't give them more oxygen than you have to, that thing in the cellar is not your mother.

Work of great political strategy finished. Now off to snack and resist the urge to write a thesis paper comparing Trump and Jason Vorhees.

In the immortal words of Ash Williams: it's a trick. Get an axe.

Okay, you don't have to kill them, you don't even have to yell at them if the situation doesn't seem right (although see Point 2) but you absolutely can't trust them.

That's the equivalent of the guy who said he was fine after the zombie fight, but he's a lot paler than usual and one of his arms has a bandage, and sure, he says he cut himself climbing a fence, but he is 100% going to try and eat your brains tonight.

"I'm a liberal, but getting rid of student loans just doesn't seem fair/trans women in sports is a serious issue/we have to reach across the aisle and find bipartisanship with people who believe JFK Jr. is returning to save us from the adrenochrome vaccine conspiracy..."

This is all assuming you feel safe doing so, of course. And if you're a public figure, or a company, or whatever, speak out and stick to it, even when dipshits on the right throw a fit. Use your power for good.

3) Don't trust people who say they're on your side but always cover their necks.

talk back to him if you do (www.tiktok.com/@mrs.frazzled has Gentle Parenting Republicans scripts that are hilarious). Tell people that SNAP is not the reason milk prices are high and that climate change is a thing. Make conservatives ashamed of themselves.

goes the same place. Fuck those guys. If they want to redeem themselves, they can start by accepting consequences.

2) Set the body on fire.

You don't have to do crimes to face consequences. Deplatform people pushing bigotry. Punch Nazis. Refuse to have dinner with your fascist uncle, or

voting rights campaigns in Georgia or an abortion fund or something like that. Whatever cause they'd hate most, ideally. If they get out of prison, anything they earn over a basic livable wage (decent food, shelter, and health care, and hell, dinner out once a month, but not a new car every year)
November 5, 2025 at 11:04 PM
If you're not gonna do that, they should be serving multi-decade terms in the sort of prison people point to when they talk about how urgently we need prison reform. Whatever they have in their bank accounts, minus enough for dependents to live decently on, should go directly to, IDK,

They're on tape doing crimes and bragging about it, they're basically all cishet middle class white people from average backgrounds, and they could so easily have just stayed home and eaten leftovers or retired and played golf or whatever. Bring back drawing and quartering, IMO.
November 5, 2025 at 11:04 PM
Same with anyone who got violent of their own volition in said attempt.

85% of the time I'm in favor of restorative justice and against both the death penalty and the carceral state. The other 15% is like, these motherfuckers, Bundy, and Weinstein.
November 5, 2025 at 11:04 PM
Note 2: All violence is metaphorical, so BSky's weird mods can chill.

1) Remove the head, destroy the brain.

I'm not the first to say it, but everybody involved in leading an attempt to overturn democracy should face severe, quick, lasting penalties.
November 5, 2025 at 11:04 PM
Thought of it as soon as I saw the results!
November 5, 2025 at 8:30 PM
(which I'm not, and I'm not advocating vigilante stuff, blah blah chill out Bsky's weirdo centrist mods)
November 5, 2025 at 7:46 PM
They're on video doing and/or bragging about the crime, they're just about all middle-class cishet white people, they could have stayed home and eaten holiday leftovers...hell, I'd bring back drawing and quartering if I was in charge.
November 5, 2025 at 7:32 PM
100%. I'm against the death penalty and the carceral system and in favor of restorative justice...85% of the time. Everyone in that fucking mob is in the other 15%, tbh.

(And while we're here, while there's a place for general physical education, making kids learn team sports five days a week does not quite encapsulate everything wrong with American culture, but it's up there.)
November 5, 2025 at 7:27 PM
...and it was weird the degree to which, as you say, middle and high-school history emphasized that. (And testing in general: in real life, you do in fact get to look shit up!) But that may have changed since my day.

I haven't had to use either, really, because I *do* always have a calculator with me and my job is editing/writing, but knowing how to use the technology to do the problems is super useful.

Mostly I think *memorization* is almost entirely useless after about sixth grade...

Turning the Civil War from "a tragedy, brother against brother" into "The Good Guys Destroyed The Bad Guys" is necessary. It is absolutely essential. The fourth grade class I attended in the 1990s sang Dixie every morning and we need to completely stomp that out.
