We've been using AI to help us quickly find answers, but when we do, we happily move on and don't actually document the answer. S/O helped us leave breadcrumbs for ourselves and others.

That's still important.

Onboarded a new team member today. We were in the office but most of our other staff are remote.
Things took a poignant turn when people were sharing some of their favorite things.
I said: all of you.
Gosh. Accidental mushiness.

It’s like, when people ask me, do you like running, invariably, the answer is no.
Yet, I run in batches of 5 and 10 miles.
The pain, stress, tiredness make me feel some kind of way.

Interview questions can be such minefields.
Eg, “How do you rate yourself as a developer?”
If you say anything under a 9, then you come across as unsure of your skills. If you say anything above 7, you might come across cocky.
How do you find the balance?

I get some of the best ideas (lol, imho) on my weekend long runs.
Today I was struck by how important it is to assert that in small software engineering orgs - LT50 people or so - you can’t be too focused on roles and designations.
Instead of <x> Engineer, you’re the Engineer who is in <x> for now
