Curious if you just don't get a big enough sample of people who voted green in 2024 to provide the cross tab. Would be interesting to see if available.

This reminds me of this post I saw the other day, where the spider web diagram reminds me of the its always sunny meme above. It would be kind of interesting to see something similar for UK rightwing thinktanks (there's a couple on here on europe tab but it's not the focus)

Like I saw someone mention Nick Clegg, and I think they were joking but please no. Really should be someone who understands journalism.

I hope the board appoints someone like that who will focus on raising journalist standards. I'm worried someone's going to wave a TBI paper at them saying BBC must AI and they'll move to appoint a former exec from a US tech firm, or similar.

Trying to think of people who have maintained credibility and trust across party lines in this era, and Mishal Husain came to mind. I don't know her politics but I do feel like she was widely perceived to have impeccable professional standards, in a way that bolstered the BBC's reputation.

And perhaps the UK institutions have never had less courage, or greater compliance to power argument. I really hope the next DG is not a former executive from a US big tech company.

I'm glad to see a change in DG but it's crazy this is the cause. It's alarming how much UK institutions are failing to stand up to US influence in particular (though the British right also had a role here). I'm somewhat worried who will be appointed next.

Though I think he's done a dreadful job as DG I've no personal animus for him. I just hope the BBC can appoint a good DG now. Someone who has a background in news would be good, and someone who would move emphasis from a both sides editorial policy to a more evidence led one.

I think they pruned some connections a bit to keep it readable, but the spiderweb works well with the colour highlighting I think!

This is such a cool visualisation. I like these kind of network mappings. It reminds me of this one I saw the other day which I thought was good too. Must take a lot of work to map all this stuff.

My biggest worry is Labour will. make a hash of reforming it. But if it's a process that takes 6 months to a year then I'm hopeful they might have sorted out their leadership and have a better cabinet by time some changes are actually being implemented, making some sensible changes to governance.

When Ed Davey actually confronted the political editor head on recently, it really had him on the back foot and deservedly so. BBC news has been doing a dreadful job for far too long. Everyone can see it. They need more challenge like that.

It would be in all left of centre parties' interests, and more importantly the country's as BBC news has become a key vector in normalising the far right vision for the UK, and its by far and away the biggest traditional news source.

Sorry I missed that button, should have guessed you would have it covered. I think the UK government too has a direct contractual relationship with palantir (outside of NHS). I guess maybe the most significant deals only are shown so as to make it readable.

This is a useful analysis, thanks for sharing. In terms of where big tech is influencing the UK, the Tony Blair Institute is very influential currently.

It would be good if you and other political leaders e.g. @zackpolanski.bsky.social could put together a joint call for a rapid review of Ofcom and whether it is fulfilling its duties. There must be Labour MPs too who feel action needs to be taken.

Its so refreshing to see someone think critically about how the UK could be proactive in managing the bond market. So much commentary suggest its some force of nature, when a lot of policy decisions give it power by design.
