In the field I always struggle between Hairy and Downy woodpecker if I only get a glance. Looking at this photo it was definitly a Hairy Woodpecker. Happpy I got out and touched grass.

Two new lifers today: Great Crested Flycatcher, and a Bay-Breasted Warbler

Great Horned Owl update: lugged out a tripod and used a teleconvertor to take some some 4k videos of the great horn owl nest. Now I'm wondering if I should be looking at parabolic microphones although probably not in the budge this year

I back tracked to where I saw the great horn owl I saw yesterday to see where it came from and I think I found its mate sitting in a nest. Going to track this over the coming weeks. Hopefully will see some fledglings in a couple of weeks

Found the hooter that I heard a couple of days ago. Not the best photos of a great horn owl but first ones in awhile for me. Hopefully I can find where the nest is and figure out a good angle for clearer shots
