It's of academic interest - yes - but more than that, if a clinical lab can't figure out it has a string of E. hormaechei, it might not know that an outbreak is in play, placing patients at harm. Big shout out to Faith Oni who
worked really hard on this for several years &../4

Took us a while to get the analysis right bcos we don't (yet) have "Enterobacterate" or even good biochemical ID matrices. Our most common spp. (& most other HAIs) is Ent. hormaechei. Never heard of it? Maybe you need to step up your ID schemes...maybe we all need WGS./3

Enterobacter (E in #ESKAPE). A lot > common than you may think & often #antimicrobialresistant. In🇳🇬, we often miss them bcos they're tricky to identify correctly with limited resources. We found them by #WGS

Umm…not Greece, Portugal, South Africa- all places where talented Nigerian students who’ve garnered abstract acceptances & competitive bursaries are denied visas for no clear reason, after we have registered, made travel expenses etc. consider Nigeria, Ghana,Kenya as we have no trouble getting there
