Minneapolis kid, long-suffering MN sports fan, rabid MN Lynx fan, Methodist Pastor/Heretic, St. Louis Park MN City Council Rep, minister of naps, up and coming grumpy old man, laborer for a more just and equitable world.
As a St Louis Park council person, it was an honor to meet Senator Klobuchar at this event today. As a father to two young adults considering fire fighting, l the Defending Our Heroes Act means a lot. Thanks to Julie and Meagan for channeling their grief into meaningful action.
In St. Louis Park with Julie Paidar, her daughter Meagan, and local firefighters to highlight my bipartisan Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act becoming law. After firefighter Mike Paidar died of leukemia, we worked together to support families facing service-related cancers.

We are honored that Senator @amyklobuchar.com chose the St. Louis Park Fire Department to hold an event today to talk about the Defending Our Heroes Act. Thanks to all who put in years of work to get this important bill through. This is our Mayor, Nadia Mohamed, introducing the Senator.

Tonite we light the 4th Advent Candle, the candle of LOVE. Beneath the cold hard surface of the frozen earth, LOVE is budding forth. LOVE is the very being and work of God, and tonight this 4th candle shines as a reminder that no human is “garbage”, that ALL are the Beloved of God, no exceptions.

Make no mistake about it: My town, St Louis Park MN, stands by, for, with, and behind our Somali community and all immigrant communities. ✊🏼🇸🇴

This is not how a well human talks. Just as Biden was not well and Dems saw and called for a change, so too do Republicans need to realize they are aiding abetting a maniacal president who is doing serious harm. Invoke the 25th now.

🕎 With the sun having found its weary way beneath the horizon, may all my celebrating Jewish friends find joy and peace in kindling the Hanukkah light this week! 🕎

Thank you @chrislhayes.bsky.social and the #WithPod for this week’s episode w/BenjaminWallace-Wells. As a “below the waterline” elected in MN who had a squad car watching his house after the Hortman murder I appreciate this conversation. Great episode. Peace, all.

It's not about fraud. It's about fear. Old rich white guys commit fraud everyday, fleece the taxpayer everyday, rob the poor and working class everyday day. This about weakness and fear. It will not stand. But I stand. I stand with my Somali neighbors. 🇸🇴

I saw the pre-broadway production of "Purple Rain" on Saturday night with the fam. It was fun, but as a Prince fan, a student of theater and writing, I felt compelled to write an honest review. Don't hate me.

She’s my Lt. Governor. She’s my neighbor. She’s even my constituent (and I hers). And she’s my next US Senator saying it as plainly as it can be said.
We deserve so much more.

Let’s be clear: the Republicans in Congress and the White House do not care about health care costs. They just don’t. There is nothing over the last 15 years to argue otherwise.
As a Minnesotan, thank you @smith.senate.gov and @amyklobuchar.com for standing up for what is right and good.

This Sunday our text culminates at Amos 5:21-24, a passage we progressive pastors love. But we all too often read in ways that absolve ourselves, which is not how to read Amos. The old adage is, "if you like Amos, you don't understand Amos." My sermon prep led to this. I thought I'd share.

It’s Election Day! Don’t forget to get out and vote, friends! Nearly everybody has city council and/or school board members to vote for today, and these things matter. So get to you polling place and vote! In Minnesota as long as you are in line 8pm you can vote. Democracy owns!

Hey, friends everywhere! With SNAP benefits about to expire, today my City Council collegues and I met with our local emergency assistance org (STEP) to give them a collective personal donation. We’re asking you to do the same in your community. We need all hands on deck to keep people fed.

What Trump and the Republicans are doing with SNAP, and ACA tax credits in this shutdown is essentially holding low income families hostage in an effort to force congressional dems to cave into their demands that will be bad for low income families.

Y’all @chrislhayes.bsky.social book The Siren’s Call keeps coming back to me as one of the most important books of this time. So much so I preached a sermon recently of the same title and read from it in the context the boy Samuel hearing God’s voice. It’s an important read, friends.

The irony in it all is that there may be nothing more “un-American” than accusing millions of peaceful protesters of being “un-American”.

Most of what the Trump administration is doing is exactly what Trumpists told me was being alarmist and suffer from “Trump Derangement Syndrome” for believing he would do. So who are those suffering from “TDS”?

Attention, @maddow.msnbc.com! This is a protest group that came out of a senior living facility in my town (first tier burb of Minneapolis). They will be gathering on Saturday!
