Even with the fear and anxiety, I will NOT roll over and be silent. I will shed tears for the damage that is done and will be done, but I will also stand up and be vocal. My vote is mine and I will cast it again and again every time voting my morals above all else.

I was proud to stand among many to witness history with my babies. Today we will not watch as different history is made, as a felon takes an oath he’s already broken. Today we will talk about the work to be done. The events of today bring fear and anxiety that is overwhelming.

This morning as I sent my daughter off to school, I told her of the time we stood half frozen in DC for Obama’s inauguration. I was about 4 months pregnant, wearing a 4 yo and 2 you in wrap carriers attached to my body, we kept each other warm.

As I turned in my ballot and walked away I overheard her saying her reminder to another young woman voting for the first time.
Every ballot I cast since 1996, that woman’s voice plays in my head and when my daughter cast her first vote for Joe Biden I repeated those words to her, “keep fighting…”

That elderly woman looked me in the face and said in a quiet whisper, “Remember this is YOUR vote, women fought for this for you. Keep fighting.” She patted my shoulder as she slowly walked away.
