I decided that I need another hobby. Well, it’s a rekindling of an old one, painting. Except Ive forgotten the techniques, & so I decided to get a Camera Lucida. An ancient crafty method to see both the scene and the page simultaneously. So basically it’s a tracing device.

Everything except the lens cone printed perfectly. The cone, I messed with the settings, mainly to reduce the support volume, and in the process learned some other things and messed up the bed adhesion, so my printer gets a rest until I can properly reprint the cone.

Looks like I’ll have a 6x17v8 on Sunday. It’ll be V1 of v8 in Matte PLA, for testing before I choose a different filament more suited to temperature variation and warp resistance (extremely important on cameras, that the film plane be as flat as possible and perfectly perpendicular to the lens).

Took a bit of finagling and modernizing, with new support types, and infills that have been invented since this was originally published. Very fun project. “Open 6x12, 6x17 and 6x17 Panoramic Camera”
