Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman was a blast when I read it. Enterprise of Death by Jesse Bullington was less horror but still weird and set in 16th century.

I live in town, but work at the vineyard out in the country, so I keep an eye on the local Facebook group. It’s always people checking on each other and reporting broken fences/found animals. Gives me some hope.
