Bound in leather and grey cloth with patterned end papers and speckled edges and matching slip cover. Only 850 of these were published, and this is number 598 and is signed by the author and illustrator. It is a modern botanical gem detailing Ireland’s unique wild orchids.

It was named after one of the early curators of the Trinity College Dublin Botanic Garden: James Townsend MacKay, though today it’s accepted species is Zygo. maculatum

Not an orchid. This is the crown of a bromeliad. Totally different family and still beautiful.
