I’m sorry to hear that but you need to understand unless you knock someone out completely there is no getting away from their suffering. I hope you don’t have to experience it personally to finally understand that.

I’m sorry that this legislation scares you but having watched both my mother and father die dragging air into their lungs you will not convince me that terminally ill people should not have a choice about their death. I hope that never happens to you because there is no such thing as “comfortable”

Comfortable doesn’t exist, release is what they need from the sheer exhaustion of dragging air into their lungs. Listen to that for nearly 48 hours and tell me comfortable exists.

The majority of disabled people are not terminally ill so this does not encourage at all. It allows those with a terminal illness with their mental faculties to be allowed a choice.

Having nursed my Mum through palliative care there is no such thing as comfortable no matter what the meds. Listening to her gasping for air in her last 24 hours was heartbreaking. Her faith did not allow her to believe in assisted dying but I do. Two doctors and a high court judge is a deterrent.

I think everyone who is against it should spend six months physically caring for someone who is end of life like I have, hopefully that will show them the suffering that is endured by the patient and to realise that there is no such thing as “comfortable”.

Tell that to the women of Afghanistan. Women need to realise that our society could revert just as easily and need to be smart with their votes.

I agree. What’s worse is the ones I give up on are normally prize winning books. Each time I expect to get wowed but instead am bitterly disappointed.
