Yesterday's turnout at the New York Jewish Book Festival at the @museumofjewishheritage was great! The panel discussion I was on--"Reckoning the Holocaust through fiction" went very well. The audience was invested and the Q&A was flowing! Thank you to all for making this a wonderful event!

Fifteen years ago today, my father and best friend Hirsch Dorbian passed away. He was the last of a vanishing breed-- a true gentleman. In addition to his family, compassion, goodness and decency remain his strongest legacy. You are sorely missed, Dad. #RIPHirschDorbian

I’m proud to share the new cover for the third edition of my novel, "An Epiphany in Lilacs" to be published soon by Sunbury Press. The book is inspired by my father’s real-life experiences as a young Holocaust survivor recovering in a DP camp in Germany after WWII. #CoverReveal #SunburyPress

Eighty years ago tomorrow, my then 14-year-old father was liberated on an abandoned naval base in Neustadt-Holstein, Germany, by British troops. In this pic, he's holding a dog Pikush that he was taking care of when he was living in the DP camp. Happy Anniversary Dad! #Holocaustremembrance

On this #HolocaustRemembranceDay, I'd like to remember my late father Hirsch Dorbian, who in 1943, was arrested with his mother and two older sisters and sent to what would be their first concentration camp Kaiserwald in Riga. This is Dad's ID card in the DP camp after the war. He was only 14.

Here's my favorite veteran, my father when he was in the Marines in early 1950s. He was 19 when he was drafted, not even a citizen yet. Had been a Holocaust survivor from Latvia. Through a fluke, he ended up in the Marines (long story). A lifelong Democrat. #HappyVeteransDay #HirschDorbian
