After 2023 turned out to be the worst year of my career and life overall (due to mental health struggles… and the obvious financial ones), I am READY for something ~good~ in 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣!

So the fact that I FOUND THIS STORY means so, so much to me. Anyone else have something similar happen?! Or a story you lost to the internet gods that you still grieve?
Here's the piece if anyone is curious: irinagonzalez.com/spanish-bili...

I even said to him, whether or not I teach my son Spanish is and will forever be a major part of my life story. No matter what my feelings are about it, it's just one of those things that's with me, that I think about a lot, and that will stay with me no matter what happens in the future.

When my husband asked me why this particular story was so important to me, I had a *lot* to say about how this essay was really vulnerable, fits into what I have always written about (Latinidad) and what I mostly write about now (parenting), and is also one of those pieces that sticks in your soul.

And then it was thankfully available on wayback time machine, so I was able to get the copy and re-post it on my portfolio site! I honestly don't know how else I would have recovered it!

Just the fact that I was able to finally find the title of the piece and publication because I posted it on IG (which I don't often do), AND THEN to have that link be available on Linktree (which I would often add to and then delete a week later) feels like a win.
October 17, 2023 at 5:08 PM
FINALLY, I went waaaaaaaaaaay back through my Instagram, found when I posted about the story, and *by some miracle* the link happened to be in my Linktree (which I haven't even used in almost a year). It seriously feels like A GODDAMN MIRACLE.

And it took me forever to find because I went through a storage-is-full freakout earlier this year and had deleted every email and file pre-2021/22... whoops!

Wait, mild concussion?!?!?!
Yeah, I am NOT excited for when Rio enters school... Especially now that I know there's a weeklong fall break AND Thanksgiving week break so close together.
HOW DO OTHER PARENTS GET ANY WORK DONE???

MY GOD!!! I am horrified to the max

Additionally: Hi all! #journorequest Who knows a fantastic Latina doula who would be interested in speaking with me for a BBC story?
September 22, 2023 at 3:33 PM
In hopes of a YES:

#journorequest I need to speak with 2-3 pediatricians about the latest research on childhood obesity for Yahoo Life. It's an SEO/101 piece but I really want to find at least one expert who can speak to anti-fat bias, diet culture BS, the BMI being problematic, etc. Anyone?
