Oh I agree! I think that’s what everyone wants. Though I haven’t worked with any anti woke devs myself I do think devs maybe worried of potential backlash from the community’s preconception of the game before they play it. Which you can’t really control on the dev side or publisher side.

A lot of it is that we have a lot more phones and a lot more media coverage on it. Then you start to watch one or two and now your algorithm is getting filled with it. There are problems yes but it may be sensationalized

The gaming community also doesn’t understand if you want new IPs and new stories you have to hire beyond what you have. New and fresh ideas build up the game industry.

After latest we do do user feedback and go back and forth with this for quite some time. And unfortunately when user experience routes aren’t improving the publisher does tend to pull the plug on a lot of projects even tho the projects are hella interesting.

Hi! Market Researcher who also does User Experience/Playtesting for a big publisher here for small insight. Unfortunately it is true that a lot of times they go the safe route and live service. But also a lot of times our “woke” games unfortunately don’t get past playtesting stages.

I agree! But people these days argue if it’s not in unreal 5, or basically movie level quality of cinematic it’s a bad game 😓

A lot of the game industry agree as well but I believe a lot of the current trends are that people want this large open world with a giant expanse. It’s sort of hard to gauge ngl.
