Sure seems like a lot of middle income earners resent the redistribution to the lower end if it means higher prices for them

Kinda surprised more pundits aren’t talking about this. David Shor brought this up years ago and nobody seems to address it or know what to do about it

Is this in anticipation of them overshooting it now?

I like being included in things

If the concern is minority groups then just make it so the restriction only applies to white people, the largest swathe of Trump’s voter base. Wouldn’t you prefer it if uneducated white voters were removed from the equation?

I’m not sure RCV is the magic solution since places in the US that have had it don’t see much difference in the outcome. Also the electoral college/senate stuff doesn’t matter if Republicans are winning the popular vote

There would obviously be trade offs but if it was between that and living in a world where Trump like figures are in charge are you really telling me you’d prefer the latter?
November 14, 2024 at 3:41 AM
It doesn’t have to be a perfect system, just one that is most likely to restrict the kind of person who would vote for Trump. College degrees seem like a good proxy for that, most Trump voters are too lazy and dumb to get one

I don’t know all the things RFK wants to ban and I’m sure he goes off the deep end a lot but I thought most people were of the mindset US food has too many additives/artificial preservatives/etc relative to say Europe and more ingredients should be banned

I know a lot of YIMBY talk is very pro-densification - do you give any credence to the idea there’s a negative correlation between densification and fertility?
And if there is one, is there a point where you would think further densification is no longer worthwhile?

Why are these institutions uniquely weak/compromised right now though?
Is it just the internet existing?

Genuine question, do you think universal suffrage is a mistake if it leads to this Republican Party being viable? Saw that map of only college educated voters and it painted a much better picture

Considering how interest rates are moving is permitting even going to be the primary restrictor of building at this point? Idk how much construction can happen if rates don’t calm down soon

Can it really be a new chapter without gcs?

Who were the prominent right wingers besides like politicians? It seemed like the vast majority of the content on there was left leaning before Musk took over
November 12, 2024 at 6:31 AM
I don’t think the critical capacity exists for something to happen here first rather than there
November 12, 2024 at 3:33 AM
The more left leaning people come over here the more vindicated the theory that right and left wingers cannot coexist in any space becomes
November 12, 2024 at 3:27 AM
Is it actually impossible to have a social media site where both right wingers and left wingers exist?
