screenshot of the shortened abstract of S51: S51: From Satellite to Unmanned Platforms, the Computation of LIDAR Dataset for Archaeological and Heritage Projects This session would like to explore different applications of the LIDAR, shifting the focus from the overall research results to the previous technical phase within a project. The idea is to discuss/debate the use of LIDAR for heritage projects based on: - what platform do they use (Satellite, plane or UAV) and why (resolution, cost, accessibility flexibility) - how this might affect the final product (point cloud, raster) and the research questions of the project - new processing methodologies (filtering vegetation, noise removal, feature detection, software comparison/alternatives, …), and encountered problems in the data acquisition and the post processing phase (filtering vegetation, identifying features…) We invite researchers interested in computation workflows, comparison of surveying techniques, cost-effect, quality of recorded data and setbacks during processing to present in this session. We welcome talks dealing not only with successes in the application of LIDAR but also with difficulties and failures that occur when delivering data and results, “the process of learning a craft often involves making mistakes along the way”. Overall, through this session we wish to focus in the exchange of experiences and discussion of senior/experienced scientist and technicians as well as junior researchers regarding the use of LIDAR for their projects. We believe that this topic might open new avenues and approaches to guide projects interested in applying this technique in the future.

QGIS themselves don't recommend doing it. Export as pdf usually works.
screenshot of a QGIS dialogue window: The SVG export function in QGIS has several problems due to bugs and deficiencies in the underlying Qt SVG library. In particular, there are problems with layers not being clipped to the map bounding box. If you require a vector-based output file from QGIS it is suggested that you try exporting to PDF if the SVG output is not satisfactory.

Today I started into the new work year and got greeted by a great view at the Postsparkasse.
A photo of an architectural sculpture (an Angel holding two wings in Art Noveau style) on the roof of the building Postsparkasse in Vienna. The sculpture is by Othmar Schimkowitz while the building was designed by famous Art Noveau architect Otto Wagner. The walls are covered with white marble slabs and each slab bears a round aluminum application. The underside of the roof overhang is also visible and also bears ornaments.
