I'll be three years retired in March.
I had told them I was retiring and would help them find a replacement. Six months later it was evident they weren't looking for anyone. I woke up on March 31, went in to work, and submitted notice of my immediate departure.
Have never looked back.

Personally, I prefer physical books. My dad, who was legally blind from wet MD (get your eyes checked!) lived through his Books on Tape subscription.

A dozen on average. I read more slowly than I once did, one a month seems a good pace for maximum enjoyment and comprehension. 📖

Reality.

Your thermostat knows when you leave the house.
Your fridge knows what's for dinner.
Your robot vacuum has the dirt on you.
Your TV is listening to what you say.
Your phone broadcasts your location.
Your doorbell camera knows who visits you, and when they're there.

I can feel my anchor dragging,
To use an old maritime phrase;
but then, I am old(er) -
wont to using the worn anchors,
like punctuation.
Hanging on with both hands,
trying to stay steady
against wind and wave;
refusing to be swept away
by the tides of time.

Love me some Leonard Cohen, a deliberate, consummate artist.
This album was the amazing closing chapter of an amazing oeuvre.

I grew up on the West Coast - these invoked some nice memories.

Hoping some inspiration will rub off on me to unbox the first draft novel I wrote years ago and see if it's salvageable.

In case I haven't mentioned it lately, thanks for doing these.
These kernels of ideas aren't always grist for my mill, but they are always food for thought.
