Our new Brand was born from our members’ voices and energy and from the communities we work with — straight from the front lines of change. It reflects our membership and the people who bring it to life every day: healthcare providers, educators, activists, movement-builders, and volunteers.

In 2022, IPPF embarked on a journey to clarify its values and renew its brand. Building on more than 70 years of trailblazing struggles, we recognized the profound power that comes from reaffirming who we are and what we stand for, as we continue to ignite change.

Everyone deserves protection from harm, and no one should face abuse or punishment simply for being who they are. We urge Türkiye not to table this draft law in the legislative agenda. Together, we stand for a world where everyone, without exception, can live freely, safely, and with pride.

Disturbingly, the law would make it a crime simply to be yourself —its vague wording could see people imprisoned for up to 3 years. The proposed law targets the visibility of LGBTI+ persons & anyone who exercises free speech to speak out in their defense, turning solidarity itself into an offense.

Under this proposal, health professionals who perform medical interventions outside the strict conditions set by law could face 3 to 7 years in prison, while transgender people themselves risk 1 to 3 years’ imprisonment for accessing gender-affirming care—including hormonal treatments.
