A Wind Advisory remains in effect for most of the forecast area until 12 AM Thursday for wind gusts of 40-50 MPH.

Snow showers will move through the north/northeast half of the state this afternoon through the evening.

A ridge of high pressure in the west will bring a clipper pattern for the first half of December.

Then a pattern shift is increasingly likely the back half of the month. This will lead to pacific systems to track west to east and thus an uptick in winter storm potential around the 20-30th of Dec.

A strong pacific storm system will bring an accumulating snow risk to the central plains/OH valley surrounding Thanksgiving Day. Continue to check back as we fine-tune the exact track, timing, and totals.

The wind will relax later tonight combined with high relative humidity to set the stage for fog formation this evening through Saturday morning.

All activity should dissipate late Saturday morning.

The upper-level low will continue to slowly move eastward on Thursday with the strongest wind gusts of 40-50 MPH over the eastern half of the forecast area. Then the wind will relax overnight into Friday as the system finally departs.

A wind advisory has been issued for the western half of Iowa valid until 6 lpm this evening for wind gusts of 40-50 mph. This aligns well with the wind forecast posted on Monday.

The final push of gusty winds will hit on Wednesday with the strongest gusts of 40-50 MPH over western Iowa.

Additionally, flurries and snow showers will work through the forecast area starting Wednesday morning before tapering off early Thursday morning.

An additional piece of energy from the northwest flow will move through the area later Thursday night into Friday. A trace-2" of snow accumulation does seem reasonable at this point with locally higher in the orange shaded zone before the system exits Friday morning.

We are closely watching Thursday afternoon for a couple localized severe storms with threats of hail, damaging winds and an isolated tornado not off the table. Further updates to follow later.
