Healthcare versus the holy bonds of matrimony: Came across this comment on another social media site . What does this tell you about the U.S.? I have had the same thoughts over the years. Screenshot post from another site : I thought about this actually: if I ever became seriously ill, I’d ask my wife to divorce me (unless I was absolutely dependent on her insurance). I’d make sure she wound up with most of the assets, and I’d eat the medical bills. If I die, I take most of the debt with me. If I live, I file for bankruptcy, solo, drop most of the debt, and we can get remarried or cohabitate until my credit is rebuilt. Don’t you just love living in a country where critical medical care is so expensive that this seems like a reasonable option?
