i think the lineage aspect is really important—or anyway it’s relevant that there are always old lifers around to tell you “the scene/this town used to be so much better”.. everyone is definitely grasping for the era that theoretically existed before

making this book required relettering translated text in several made-up encoded alien alphabets. the process was alien alphabet -> french text -> english text -> back to alien alphabet. just saying
