There’s only one image left for our website - While waiting for Michael to finish it, I can show you how he made the development ghostys :)

Wow, October is going by fast! I hope we have time to create a tiny game by the 31st.
Anyway, here’s already a timelapse of a pixel art witch (the old spooky kind).

Okay since new pictures are coming in slowly right now, maybe you can enjoy this timelapse of our little gamer ghosty for our website:

This is the image idea for game design - I wonder if it would be better if ghosty jumped at the end?
Well back to animating then!

I asked Michael to do an image for gamification and he made this :) I love his little happy face once he levels up

Still redoing website images. Here is the visual for "Development for any device": Little ghosty showing up on both a laptop and smartphone, yeay!

Okay apparently I messed up last time, but now for the start of Spooktober you can watch the pumpkin timelapse as promised!

With spooky season coming up, I asked Michael to draw me a pumpkin 🎃 And it's glowing!

We used some stock images to get the website up and running, but now it’s time to make it ours! 👻 Here’s a peek at little Ghosty enjoying some video games 🎮

Finally, the title screen! 👻✨
The entire castle was created on a single layer, and the ghost has a slightly higher resolution here. In Godot, we animated it to first fly across the screen, then pop up in the foreground.

Next: The spiral staircase.
Inspired by the Albrechtsburg castle in Meißen near us. We wanted to capture that elegant curve in pixel form.

Then there’s the dungeon!
Packed with shadows and moss to give it that old, worn feel. It was also the first map where we tested the gameplay mechanics!

Here’s the inner castle with a well! ⛲
We wanted small details that make exploration feel charming, even at 64x64px.

Next up: The final level, the throne room 👑
Here we experimented with shadows a bit more… and it came out quite nice!

Since we received really positive feedback on the art during the #lowrezjam, we want to show some frame-lapses of how it’s done!
Starting with the first level: the castle bridge. Everything here is 64x64px and scaled to 512x512px!

It's such a lovely ghost, we'll probably continue making some ghost games. Here’s the 4 versions Michael made for this jam. Fun fact: The crying one was based on the original game this concept came from, but it went unused in our version :)
