🤣 If you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen!

You started this by insulting anyone who voted Liberal, then you called me ignorant because I disagreed with you!

At least I’m not a holier-than-thou ideologue who disparages his neighbours’ voting preferences.

This is what strikes me as ignorant: being aware of the limitations of FPTP and then voting as if we have PR.
April 29, 2025 at 2:39 PM
By your logic, your vote was “wasted.”
April 29, 2025 at 2:36 PM
My ignorance? We don’t have PR!

Calling the liberal campaign “propaganda” is childish. And suggesting that New Westminster citizens are falling for propaganda is somewhat insulting.

Your politics are unpopular. This is what the numbers say: 68.3% of the votes cast were for other candidates. Peter Julian did not win a plurality.

I met him briefly, and I found him to be an earnest young man who cares about mental health and addictions issues - a topic of personal significance to me.

But more importantly, I was thinking about Mark Carney at the ballot box, and hoping to strengthen his mandate for the fight with Trump.

Looks like there was no need to vote against your conscience.

Strategic voting almost lost this riding to the Conservatives. We should all remember this next time we go to the polls.

Is that a rhetorical question?

Election is over. Might have looked into this a bit earlier.

I guess you’re the low information “concitoyen” this morning!

Want to take this back now?

You shouldn’t have split the vote by voting for a third party with no interest or ambition to govern.
April 29, 2025 at 1:16 PM
Third parties that have no interest or ambition to govern are a great way to waste your vote in FPTP.

You guys have egg on your face this morning.

Jake Sawatzky won, and democracy is alive and well in New Westminster.

It is every elector’s right to vote however they wish. Shame on you who try to bludgeon us into voting your way.

PP is definitely a Trump wannabe.

Watching his riding results coming in now - he must be squirming!
April 29, 2025 at 3:08 AM
Agree that he’s not a Trump fan, but Trump isn’t exactly a conservative in the usual sense. You could call him a radical - and conservatives usually hate radicals.

I don’t know that there’s much evidence of him softening his conservative stance. Although I don’t follow him super closely.

It's funny that so many of David's BlueSky followers espouse such liberal positions!

David Frum is a conservative, through and through.

I also wonder about this.

I think they were looking at proportional representation after the 2015 election.

I like the ranked choice idea!

The canals use pilots to bring the ships through. Egypt should let the US through for free, but charge if they want pilotage. Plausible deniability.

Calm down everyone. Cam takes a satirical view of everything on this pod. Including himself - he’s very self deprecating.

And he apologized for comments he shared with his peer group when he was a teenager. I think you all need to grow up a bit and emulate Cam’s maturity here.

Yes.

Good idea!

How on Earth did he even manage to become leader? I remember watching him circa 2010 and telling people to look up the word “smarmy” in the dictionary - they’d find his portrait.

If he’s the best the Conservatives can muster, I’m equal parts relieved and scared. He’d be a horrible PM.
