Perhaps. I haven't seen it before either I think. My partner planted it and we live in the Kootenays. Then there is this big bee.

This Joe pye weed that we have now, native to BC I think. Has been the bee winner of the year. A couple weeks ago I rough counted atleast 50 bees. It has about ten of this huge purple umbras.

@jjofbc.bsky.social now that I'm home. here is a photo of the main flower garden from our front veranda. As you can see it's very chaotic and full. Some nice dahlias blooms up front.

Yes we planned for it as last year we didn't have many so we planted a lot. Some of them at 5 feet tall.

Which direction will you be running where you live? For me I was evacuated from my home for two weeks in 2021 due to a wildfire. Luckily the winds changed in our favour with the fire only a few km from our town. I know others that were not so lucky in BC. #climateemergency
