Our response on Govt plan to criminalise strangulation in porn.

Increasingly young peoples sexual experiences are being informed by what they have viewed in pornography and this includes viewing acts of strangulation also referenced as “choking” within pornography.

54% of victim ethnicity data was recorded as unknown by police in 2023- 2024, this lack of data makes it difficult to understand who might be affected by this type of offence and who might be more or less likely to report

Evidential difficulties accounted for 70% of criminal justice outcomes with police in 2023- 2024. Therefore, there is work to do to better understand how and why cases don't progress through to charging
