THE END. Now if anyone wants to pay me to finish writing this, I will gladly accept it. how do we do this? Cash app? Or cerified check? Fartcoin? #booksky

For the rest of the world, the Gooker was symbolic of something else. Much like the roof a decade earlier, it was another poorly designed marvel crashing on the floor of the Hartford Civic Center. 120/

(Gobbleygookers fly, right?) How could this magnificent beast - how could GG Gomez - be my real father? The Gooker immediately, if only temporarily, became my favorite wrestler. (Wrestler? Sure, wrestler, why not?). 119/

I, however, was floored. In a production that relies on colorful characters, the Goobledygooker was downright luminescent. I wanted to dance like him. I wanted to fly like him. I wanted to gobble like him. 118/ #prowrestling

GG does a few flips, gets Mean Gene to do a cartwheel, they do a square dance. Without getting too deep into the weeds of the routine, the point is the segment sucked and everyone hated it. 117/ #wrestlesky

Undeterred by the crowd going mild, GG dragged the middle-aged interviewer to ringside. GG springboarded in the ring and hit all four corners to play to the crowd and squeeze as much energy out of the front rows as possible. 116/ #wrestlesky #booksky

Mean Gene definitely did know what was in the egg and his attempt to translate what transpired was equally confounding. Described as a rooster tail with feathers and a pair of legs like Mean Gene’s mother-in-law, GG jumped down from his platform and cut a promo in his curated Gooker language. 115/

If they did know what would come out of that egg, then the reaction was a measured and deft attempt to not even try to explain the unexplainable. Either way, they failed to latch on to anything of any significance to get the Gooker over for the people watching at home. 114/ #wrestlesky

The shared reaction of the commentary team, Gorilla Monsoon and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, was of confusion. The reaction would make sense if they did not know what was in the egg and were left to find the words. /113 #wrestlesky

On this Thanksgiving, I can’t help be reminded of the time I interviewed the real Gobbedlygooker for the Season 1 finale of my show. I’m thankful for my own determination. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i...

The audience reaction to the hatching would best be explained by GG himself 30 years later - “they hated me before they even knew me.” 111/
June 9, 2025 at 10:46 AM
With Mean Gene hyping him up, GG shot straight up and tossed bits of cardboard egg out of his way. GG stood tall on that platform, looking out at his awaiting crowd. GG, or in this case, this unnamed, oversized bird was met with a cacophony of boos, laughs, and audible heckles of confusion. 110/
June 8, 2025 at 10:48 AM
Mean Gene started guessing what might be in the egg. Dinosaur? Playmate of the Month? Again, “40-year-old Mexican mid-carder” was not one of the guesses. The egg began to crack. GG knew it was time for the big reveal. The big payoff. 109/

“Things are really heating up at the Survivor Series and, I gotta tell you, these great fans in Hartford, Connecticut are red hot, too,” Mean Gean bellowed to the 16,000 fans in attendance. GG began rustling in the egg, preparing to hatch. 108/ #booksky #wrestlesky
June 6, 2025 at 12:00 PM
As it came time for hatching, GG could see the shine and feel the heat of the house spotlight, probably because the egg itself had visibly pre-cut cracks to make it easy to get in and out of the egg. 107/

GG managed to put two and two together to realize The Undertaker was Mark Calaway, which would explain the rather pale-skinned zombie GG briefly saw in the locker room. 106/
June 3, 2025 at 12:47 PM
“What a dumb gimmick,” GG thought. As much as he had misgivings about being a Gobbledygooker, at least he wasn’t an undertaker. 105/
June 2, 2025 at 2:44 PM
He does remember the debut of The Undertaker. Unable to see, GG could hear the hushed whispers of the crowd and the entrance music - an organ heavy funeral dirge that moved some of the children in the audience to tears. 104/
June 1, 2025 at 12:29 PM
He didn’t remember being wheeled out into the crowd or the doors being opened or the crowd filling the seats. GG’s memory of the matches on the card that he sat through - nearly the entire show - is hazy at best. 103/
May 31, 2025 at 11:51 AM
For the first time, GG got into the Gobbledygooker costume for a live audience that wasn’t Vince and Bruce. GG was reminded of how hard it was to see through the golf ball eyes. He needed assistance getting into the egg, but once he was in there his breathing and meditation took over. 102/
May 30, 2025 at 1:32 PM
Like he’s done so many times before, GG sought and found the huge green chalkboard in a cramped hallway that held the match lineup written out. At the top of the list. “EGG”. 101/
May 29, 2025 at 11:56 AM
Calaway was dressed in full gear which led GG to think he would be on the show. But GG also thought he looked pale and sick and perhaps not in any shape to wrestle. 100/
May 28, 2025 at 12:27 PM
As he was stretching, he noticed a new member of the locker room. At six feet ten inches tall, Mark Calaway was a giant among giants and easy to pick out as the new guy. GG knew him from working in Texas. He caught a passing glimpse of Calaway in a changing room, before the door was shut. 99/
May 27, 2025 at 11:51 AM
As GG rolled-up to the venue, not a single fan recognized him. That would normally be a problem for any good guy wrestler, but tonight, GG needed the anonymity to focus. 98/

It’s now called the XL Center and has hosted a few wrestling events since 1990, including the polarizing Wrestlemania XI that saw retired NFL linebacker Lawrence Taylor defeat “The Beast from the East” Bam Bam Bigelow in the main event. 97/
