Finally managed to get close enough to one of these beauties!
A peacock butterfly sunning itself on a piece of blue-painted rusting metal. The paint is flaking away and there are rust spots that seem to mimic the spots on the butterfly's wings in an ironic fashion. At least, that's what I think.

Another album, another tetrad graph...!

Two sheets of A4 squared paper are spread on a desk. The one on the left has a connected graph of nodes labelled with four-digit numbers, each digit being 2, 3 or 4. Lines connect the nineteen nodes in a pattern involving three directions, the vertical and two diagonals. At the top is the title: "Tetrad[2,4] set with single-note polymorphisms", and at the bottom it says "valencies: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6". The one on the right has a column of four-digit numbers taken from the other sheet, with differences ringed as the sequence progresses down the page. On the right of this are some binary digits and the letters 'M' and 'i'.

Wow. Today I wrote code to make letters in oscilloscope music. It WORKED FIRST TIME. Not a single bug. That's astonishing, even for someone as detail-oriented as I am. I might break out the whisky and celebrate :D

At the weekend, I was working on the first track of the next album, which involves encoding lyrics into the music itself rather than singing them. This one turned out sounding a little bit "Boards of Canada", which was not intentional but quite welcome.

Several sheets of music manuscript paper are spread on a beech table. The music is hand written in pen, and entitled "Typecast". It consists entirely of semibreves in two staves, in four-part chorale. Also visible are a 2013 Macbook Air, a fountain pen, an eraser and a single platter from a hard drive (which I use as a drinks coaster - possibly not a great idea given that it's metal).

Working on THENCE behind-the-scenes Part 4: The Seafarer. This one could be a marathon. SO much to say about these interesting chord progressions!
A musical progression chart made from a network of lines bordering diamond and hexagonal areas of different colours. The diamonds all contain "R", "1", "2" or "3" (the chord root position and its inversions). There are dotted vertical lines behind the whole thing, labelled with the chord types: 7th, Major 6th, Minor 6th, and then it repeats across the page. At the bottom is a sequence of 28 different chords, the first seven of which are highlighted with red rectangular backgrounds. There is a bright red path marked with six segments along six contiguous lines bordering three diamonds and two hexagons. The two lines bordering the hexagons are labelled "4th" (this is the distance between chords in a modulation).

Tree bark is amazing. If you take the time to look properly as you pass through a wood, you'll notice how unique each tree really is - so unique that, if you had a truly photographic memory, you could never get lost.

Or at least, it's full until I start getting more stands or a bigger desk...

Aiming for that Numan Polymoog sound... here in my car - er, I mean studio. I wanted 3 LFOs and the 2600 has just one, so I borrowed the other two from outside. I love semimodulars :)
On a corner desk in my studio, four synths are interconnected: a Behringer 2600 and Neutron, a Moog Mavis, and a Behringer Solina (I'm only using the phaser in that). An Arturia Keystep Pro controller keyboard is connected to the 2600. Also present but not in use: a Soma Lyra 8.
